Richard Chappell, professor in the Department of Statistics, has been honored with a two-year appointment as a distinguished visiting professor at City University of Hong Kong, an innovative hub for research and one of the top universities in Asia.
Chappell will play a pivotal role in an innovative and interdisciplinary research collaborative operating through 2025, uniting some of the brightest minds from across the globe. This international initiative is poised to foster groundbreaking research and facilitate knowledge exchange on a global scale.
The appointment marks the latest milestone in Chappell’s esteemed three-decade career at UW-Madison. His research in the design of clinical trials is widely cited, and he has served on several U.S. FDA advisory committees. He also served as president of the Society for Clinical Trials and is a fellow of the American Statistical Association and the Society for Clinical Trials. Chappell has also led the Data Management and Biostatistics Core of the UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center.
