Statistics MS & PhD Students
Current Statistics MS & PhD students will be notified by email to apply for TA positions via a Canvas survey. This typically happens in late April for fall semester TA appointments and late October for spring semester TA appointments. New Statistics graduate students will be communicated with in early summer for fall semester TA appointments.
MS Data Science (MDS) and MS Statistics: Statistics and Data Science (MSDS) Students
On occasion, MDS and MSDS students may be invited to apply for TA and Grader positions and a special call for hiring will be communicated via email if positions are available for students in these programs.
Other Graduate Students
If you are a graduate student from a different department, you may apply for a TA position if positions are available. If we have positions available, they will be posted in the student job center. If no postings are found, we do not have any positions available.

TA Training
Each fall, new Statistics Department TAs are required to attend the Statistics Department TA training. This TA training is typically held in August, two weeks before classes begin.
TAs also need to attend a Graduate Assistant Equity Workshop during their first semester as a TA. TAs MUST complete this workshop in order to be appointed for more than one semester.
At the start of each semester, the College of Letters & Science also offers a TA training for new and returning TAs. Generally, the fall training takes place on the Thursday before classes start. The spring training date is more variable.
