Alejandra Quintos

Originally from Puebla, Mexico, Alejandra completed her Ph.D. in Statistics at Columbia University under the direction of Professor Philip Protter. She is a Fulbright alumna, a Howard Levene Outstanding Teaching Award recipient, and a 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 Columbia University Presidential Award for Outstanding Teaching by a Graduate Student finalist. As an undergraduate student, she received a merit scholarship to major in Actuarial Sciences at Universidad de las Americas in Puebla from where she graduated Summa Cum Laude and was Valedictorian of her class.

Her research interests include problems in probability, stochastic processes, and statistics motivated by their applications, particularly in mathematical finance and more specifically in credit risk theory.

In her free time, Alejandra enjoys running. She has run 8 marathons so far and she is currently training for the 2022 Chicago Marathon.
