Matthias Katzfuss named Fellow of International Society for Bayesian Analysis

Professor Matthias Katzfuss has been elected an International Society for Bayesian Analysis (ISBA) Fellow, a distinction reserved for ISBA members whose scholarship, teaching, and service have made a significant and lasting impact on the advancement of Bayesian statistics.
This biennial honor, awarded by a committee of past Fellows, recognizes individuals whose contributions meaningfully promote Bayesian ideas and methods across scientific communities. Katzfuss is one of nine ISBA Fellows to be elected in 2026.
Katzfuss is internationally known for his work in computational spatial and spatio-temporal statistics, Gaussian processes, uncertainty quantification, and data assimilation—research supported by agencies including NSF, NASA, NOAA, USDA, Sandia National Laboratories, and JPL. His recognition as an ISBA Fellow adds to a growing list of honors, including an NSF CAREER Award and Fellowship in the American Statistical Association, underscoring his leadership and influence in the field.
