The Department of Statistics is excited to announce that Carmela Diosana, our academic advising manager, has received the 2024 Distinguished Achievement Advising Award from the College of Letters & Science (L&S).

Diosana has served as a staff member across several units at UW-Madison for more than two decades. During her time with the Department of Statistics, she has helped hundreds of Statistics and Data Science students chart their paths through the curriculum, consistently demonstrating steadfast dedication and care. In addition, she has created a welcoming and supportive environment in the Statistics Learning Center, where she serves as coordinator.

“As the Statistics department continues to grow and we face changes with moving to a new building, I know that having Carmela on our team ensures that we are always looking at the bigger picture and having a student-centered focus always at the forefront,” said Sara Rodock, the department’s academic advising assistant director.

Congratulations to Carmela Diosana on this well-earned recognition!
